Designed and built a wooden fireplace surround with raised panels, and contrary cabinets on both sides. John met with us to discuss our ideas, he took measurements, and then made us an architectural drawing, we re-discussed and made a few changes. He remeasured and made some templates. We visited his shop on occasion to see progress, he delivered as promised.

He worked closely with me to develop the gray color finish that I wanted, and used a final satin coating that could withstand use as a breakfast table. I came to John Foster after hearing about his work from previous clients. I was looking for someone who would be willing to work with an idea that I had for a custom dining table and someone who could help make it a reality on a realistic budget. He designed, built and finished a custom dining table base, strong enough to support a heavy granite stone top and a finish durable enough to withstand the daily abuse from an active family. It was clear that John spent a considerable amount of effort, thinking about the design, putting together multiple samples and thoroughly testing the different finishes to make sure we had the best combination of appearance and durability. The hard work paid off as the finished product looked spectacular. It exceeded my expectations and 4 years later it still looks the same as it did the day he delivered it. In fact, It looks so good that when we recently moved out of our old house, the new owners offered to buy the table from us for more money than it cost me to have John build it. (We didn't sell it).I would definitely recommend John's work and plan to use him again on other projects.

My husband and I were looking to have a china cabinet made and found Foster Woodworking right here in our own town. We were impressed with John from the start. A few days after talking about what we wanted we received a beautiful blueprint drawing of exactly what we wanted. The process was amazing and since John is in town we had the luxury of stopping by to see the progress first hand. The finished piece is exquisite and we couldn't be happier, it is our favorite piece of furniture. It is a piece that will last for generations to come.
